Looks tasty.? Gotta get me some squirrel.
i didn’t see you eat any of? it
This? is my dogs dream come true!!!
@mountnman100 I? always thought the(larger than a gray/cat)red/fox colored squirrel WAS a Fox squirrel ….in LA and AR and hereabouts anyways. I did figure the Black was part of the Fox family but…
What part of the country are the smaller Red squirrels mainly???
@smooretogo I am glad you commented because I assumed Red squirrels were populated throughout the U.S. I checked a couple sites and got this “The red squirrel can be found in most parts of Alaska and Canada. It is also found in the Rocky Mountain states and in the eastern United States south to northern Virginia and west to Illinois, Indiana and Ohio” They are pesky little rodents and until recently I never thought of eating one, but now I’m glad I did.?
WTF??
@Proskata242 I don’t understand your comment of “WTF?” I bet you sit at home playing video games and eating McD’s burgers and potato chips all day. This video was intended to educate like-minded people on the best way to enjoy their harvest. Grow up, get a life, and understand not all Americans eat industrially processed meat everyday. There’s this thing that a lot of? us do as a part of our life. We responsibly own guns, hunt for food, and defend our lifestyle from douche bags.
not? for me
@mountnman100 nice to judge people like that but, fail u guessed nothing about me… WTF is intended to like, I have never seen this before… Never seeing this? before, its like wtf about people eating cats, WTF thats fucked up. But I did not relating this to a cat,
@Proskata242 Hey douche bag, I didn’t pre-judge you. I checked out your page first. You say I guessed nothing about you? First, that sentence doesn’t make sense. Secondly, all but one of your uploads is about a video game or a game system. That makes you a lying douche bag.? Enjoy your games. I’ll enjoy my hunting, cleaning, cooking, and eating squirrel. I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to work on your communications skills and seek an education.
@mountnman100 Let’s be formal. I’m done with this conversation because this shit is just weird. My videos were uploaded 2-3 years ago. Bye.
Tip:? Don’t insult your viewers, it doesn’t help…
@Proskata242 Let’s be! You are not the type of viewer that I am looking for. The title of this video is self explanatory. If you thought that it was weird, why watch to begin with? I only insult my viewers if they insult my educational video. Bye.
Tip: Your mom did a great job replying for? you…
@mountnman100 LOL…I looked it up too. “tamiasciurus hudsonicus”. They kinda look like our chipmunks here in AR, which i also find are? part of the squirrel family as well.
Didn’t know any of this. cool. I’ll keep an eye out
How do they? taste? Like quail?
Looks? good thanks for sharing
Whoa… that looks good.?
@FuryGearSolid I can honestly say that Quail is one of few game species I have yet to taste. I would compare squirrel to chicken, but it tastes much better than those poop eaters. All dark meat except? for the backs, so it isn’t exactly like rabbit.
@backhandmonkman21 You are welcome, thanks for commenting.?
@msjulieyaj It? tastes really, really good! Thanks Ms. Julie.
Wondering about parasites and things.. How do you check fr all of that? Never been swuirrel hunting but am going to soon. ?
@SimonKentSmith I don’t know for sure which parasites, if any, affect squirrel. Parasites? are destroyed when cooking temperatures reach 160 – 180 deg’s F. You can check the USDA’s website for exact temps. The only caveat of eating squirrel that I am aware of is to abstain from eating the brains. I know it sounds weird, but many old timers actually want the head on the carcass when I give them squirrel. I may try it one day, just to say that I have. Have fun, it’s a blast.
@SimonKentSmith FYI, Most squirrels do have fleas. If your state hunting laws allow, you should clean the animal in the field immediately after shooting it and put the carcass in a bread bag. Two benefits from this; first is that the squirrel will never be easier to skin than it is right after death, the second is you don’t end up carrying fleas around all day. I’ve personally never gotten fleas? from squirrel, only coon and coyote.
no spices? just butter and water? i? want mine to taste like kfc
@pibadar There were spices. Salt, pepper, garlic, and if? you watch close you can see the hot peppers in the pan. The smother fry method was where the focus was meant to be. Most people cook squirrel so that it turns out tough and chewy, unless they put it in a slow cooker, but then it’s no fun.
or? use a crock pot, no fuss
