What is cheaper in the long run, gas or charcoal?

I am planning on buying a new grill and am unsure which to get. I have owned several charcoal grills, but never a gas one. I know a gas one will be more expensive upfront, but what about in the long run?

depending on how often you will use the BBQ ,I only fill 1 large tank once a year , it’s cleaner then charcoal but you can purchase hickory Cavour to add to your grill , I would go with the Gas if I were you , read on

gas, for sure. But it deepends on how often you grill.
Get propane. It will be less of a hastle and cheaper. It also is cleaner that coal.
Gas probably is as it is more controllable, but you will lose a lot of the taste charcoal gives.
